Pressure Feed Blasters for Serious Applications
Pressure sandblasters have abrasives stored in a pot at the bottom of the blasting unit. The air flow mixes with the abrasive to be blown out of the nozzle. It is the air pressure in the tank that forces abrasives out at a high speed enabling it to cut and scale in seconds. Also this system uses considerably less sand in the process. Naturally it remains a very efficient system for pressurized sandblasting tasks.
Pressurized sand blasters actually need a smaller compressor to run. A distinct advantage of pressure feed sandblasters is that you can get much finer gun tips than from suction units. Also the pressure tank feeds the abrasive materials more uniformly under pressure. The equipment is considered more efficient and rugged albeit slightly more expensive than siphon units.
The pressure pot system is generally felt to be the more professional type of sandblaster because it has higher blasting pressures and is certainly more efficient. People use them to blast large areas for longer period of times which reduces the wear on the air compressor. It is recognized as a serious type of pressure blasting pot.
