Sand Blasters and auto body paint removal tips

When it comes to cars there are basically 3 methods that are commonly used to remove paint from the metal. It can be done with sandblasting, with a chemical or through mechanical methods. The method you will employ depends on the state of the paint, the quality of the job you want and the amount of bodywork that particular cars needs.

When it comes to chemicals, what they do is strip the paint from the metal and which chemical you will use depends on method of application, however what all chemical stripers have in common is that you have to wait for paint to lift before you take it off.

Mechanical method uses abrasive, most commonly sand paper. You can either do it by hand or with a machine. If employing this method do not concentrate on one spot for too long as it can warp the metal.

Sandblasting as a method is used on cars that have been completely disassembled. It can remove rust and paint in an instant, however as it is high pressure, make sure you are using the appropriate sandblaster for the material that is being blasted.
